Mark H. Hamermesh
Mark Hamermesh is the Managing Director of Ethan Christopher LLC. The firm was formed in 1999 and is the holding company for the real estate activities of Mark Hamermesh and Gary Grabel. The company conducts its business in Los Angeles and surrounding counties. The company currently owns and manages 350,000 square feet of medical office space located in six complexes. Ethan Christopher specializes in value added real estate. The company also owns 250,000 square feet of shopping centers. The portfolio is currently 97% leased.
Hamermesh is also a principal of R. Gill Construction, a full service real estate contractor specializing in tenant improvements in medical real estate. The firm has provided construction services to Ethan Christopher LLC, G&L Realty Corp., Davis Partners, Lehman Brothers, Nations Surgery Centers, Quest Diagnostics, Children's Hospital and Tenet Hospital.
Prior to the formation of Ethan Christopher, Hamermesh was most recently the Senior Vice-President of Development and Acquisitions for HealthCare Financial Partners REIT (now known as Medical Office Properties) and a Vice-President for Heller Financial. Hamermesh was in charge of medical office building acquisitions for the company. He also served on the investment credit committee for the REIT during his tenure there.
Before joining HCFP, Hamermesh was Senior Vice-President of G&L Realty; a California based Health care REIT. He was responsible for loan origination and analysis for its Medical Office building and senior care division. G&L Realty owns 37 medical office buildings in Southern California.
From 1991 to 1996 Hamermesh was the Executive Vice-President of American Capital Resource, Inc., an FHA lender on apartments and health care facilities. He was a member of the Board of Directors, as well the Investment and Credit Committees. While Director of Marketing, ACR originated approximately $1 billion in loans.
Hamermesh was President of the Real Estate Advisors, an independent real estate brokerage firm from 1982 to 1990. Their firm specialized in high leverage financings including office buildings, shopping centers, and apartments. During his tenure at Real Estate Advisors, Hamermesh closed approximately $1 billion in financings.
Hamermesh received his MBA degree with Honors from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business in 1982 and his B.A. degree from UCLA in 1978.
