Gary Grabel

Gary Grabel is the Managing Director of Ethan Christopher LLC. The firm was formed in 1999 and is the holding company for the real estate activities of Gary Grabel and Mark Hamermesh. The company conducts its business in Los Angeles and surrounding counties. The company currently owns and manages 350,000 square feet of medical office space located in six complexes. The firm owns four of its medical complexes in non-hospital campus locations. Ethan Christopher specializes in value added real estate. The company also owns 100,000 square feet of shopping centers. The portfolio is currently 97% leased.

Grabel's medical portfolio is a diverse collection of medical office buildings that spans the spectrum of medical office building types. The portfolio includes two complexes on campus to regional hospitals. It includes two buildings located on major freeway arteries, and two other that are totally landlocked and community based. The portfolio includes both mid-rise and low-rise buildings. Construction types include block, wood frame and steel construction.

Grabel is also a principal of R. Gill Construction, a full service real estate contractor specializing in tenant improvements in medical real estate. The firm has provided construction services to Ethan Christopher LLC, G&L Realty Corp., Davis Partners, Lehman Brothers, Nations Surgery Centers, Quest Diagnostics, Children's Hospital and Tenet Hospital.

Prior to Ethan Christopher LLC, Grabel was a Vice-President of HealthCare Financial Partners REIT (now Medical Office Properties). Under a participating management arrangement he was responsible for the firm's property management for its Southern California properties including the Sherman Oaks Medical Center, a 100% leased, 67,000 square foot medical office building and the Valencia Medical Office Building, a 100% leased property, located adjacent to Vista Village.

Before joining HCFP, Grabel was Senior Vice-President of G&L Realty; a California based Health care REIT. He was responsible for Medical Office building acquisition for the firm. G&L Realty owns 37 medical office buildings in Southern California.

Prior to his experience as an owner of real estate, Grabel was the principal in a real estate brokerage company, Grabel-Zimbler, Inc. Their firm completed over $1 billion of financing assignments. Their focus included shopping centers, medical office properties, and high-end single family residences.

Mr. Grabel is a member of the California Bar. From 1976 to 1985 he served as the corporate legal counsel to Lincoln Savings and Loan, then under the ownership of the Crocker family.

Mr. Grabel is a frequent lecturer on real estate related topics and the author of a textbook on real estate financing entitled "The Secrets of Mortgage Lending."

Grabel received his BS summa cum laude in accounting and financing from Lehigh University in 1972 and his JD from Albany Law School in 1975.
